Wirtschaftsraum Zürich-Nord is the trade association for the Affoltern, Oerlikon and Seebach regions.

The Economic Area Zurich North promotes the common interests of local service, commercial, trade and industrial companies. In economic, political and social terms.

We want to shape the future of the business community in a business-friendly way and respect, preserve and maintain its existing traditions.

In order to pursue its purpose, the association assumes the following tasks in particular:
Integration of businesses in the Affoltern, Oerlikon, Seebach and surrounding neighbourhoods.
Representing the interests and safeguarding the rights of members vis-à-vis authorities, commercial organisations and interest groups.
Promoting the general and professional development of members through specialised lectures, presentations, etc.
Realisation of joint exhibitions, advertising campaigns and other events.
Promoting camaraderie, a sense of togetherness and the professional network of members.
Support for organisations that aim to educate and promote the trade.
Representation of the common economic, political and social interests of local service, commercial, trade and industrial companies in votes and elections
Opinion on current economic, socio-political and legal issues affecting trade and industry as well as special local topics in the Affoltern, Oerlikon and Seebach neighbourhoods and the surrounding area.
History

District 11 is the northernmost and most populous district in the city of Zurich.

It includes the neighbourhoods of Oerlikon, Seebach and Affoltern, which were incorporated into the city in 1934. City districts 11 and 12, which lie in the Glatt Valley, are often referred to together as Zurich North.

Industry settles in Oerlikon. The Zurich North region becomes an important industrial centre.

Foundation of the Oerlikon trade association.

1888

Industry settles in Oerlikon. The Zurich North region becomes an important industrial centre.

from 1920

Increased building activity in Zurich North. The Oerlikon trade association becomes increasingly important.

ca. 1930

The Oerlikon trade association has around 280 members.

1934

Oerlikon, Seebach and Affoltern are incorporated into the city of Zurich as the new urban district 11.

1943

Merger of the trade associations from the neighbourhoods of city district 11: Zurich Trade Association 11 (GVZ 11)

1949

The GVZ 11 organises the industrial and trade exhibition (later Zürcher Herbstschau - ZÜSPA) for the first time.

from 1960

GVZ 11 is actively committed to District 11.

1974

Founding of the EDZ retail association, which is later renamed Z'Örlike gits alles.

1978

Formation of individual neighbourhood groups in Seebach and Affoltern in GVZ 11. Splitting of GVZ 11 into Affoltern, Oerlikon and Seebach trade associations.

2012

Merger of Z'Örlike gits alles with Gewerbeverein Oerlikon (reunification of trade and commerce).
